The UAE Pavilion at Expo 2020 forms the cornerstone of the Expo site and has been designed to be one of the Expo’s greatest icons, having both national and global significance. The project is intended to be a symbol of the UAE’s bold and daring spirit, and shall reflect the UAE’s commitment to sustainability and innovation and as such will be built to embrace sustainable building principles.
The pavilion will be built on a 15,000-square-metre site facing Al Wasl Plaza at the centre of the 200-hectare exhibition zone. It will have exhibition areas, an auditorium, food and drinks outlets and special visitor lounges, and will represent the UAE to the 25 million visitors and participants from more than 180 countries who are expected to visit the Expo from October 2020 to April 2021.
AESG have been appointed as the sustainability consultant for the design of the project, forming part of the Santiago Calatrava led design team.
